Date: October 5, 2019 @ Lines in the water at first light or later depending on the discretion of the Captain
Location: Bolding Mill Park, Lake Lanier
In line with its educational and mentoring mission, the North Georgia Crappie Anglers Fishing Club is pleased to host its 3rd Annual Fall Children’s Fishing Classic on October 5, 2019 for 100 children between the ages of 6 and 15.
The Annual Fall Children’s Fishing Classic is designed to expose children to the joy of fishing in a positive team setting with knowledgeable fishermen/women from The North Georgia Crappie Anglers Club. All participants learn to rig a fishing rod, land a fish and “weigh-in” a team’s fish.
As an added perk, the event is held on beautiful Lake Lanier. What better place is there to instill in our community’s children an appreciation for North Georgia’s natural resources. Our overall goal is for the children’s participation in the Fishing Classic to not only provide them with a day of fun but rather to inspire them to pursue a lifelong pleasurable pastime. The wonderful thing about fishing is that no matter your age or position in life it can be enjoyed, individually, with friends, and/or with family.
In order to make this Annual Fall Children’s Fishing Classic and our various other community events a success, The North Georgia Crappie Anglers Fishing Club, its members, team captains, and various other collaborators, donate their time, their boats and their gear. However, much more assistance is needed, and we therefore reach out to various businesses, foundations and groups, to help defray some of the expenses associated with hosting a community event of this magnitude.
The North Georgia Crappie Anglers Fishing Club, which is a non-profit organization that operates exclusively for educational and charitable purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future Federal or State tax code. Our Club’s purpose is to share information about and also experiences with Crappie fishing on Lake Sidney Lanier and other North Georgia lakes among its members and our community. We are the largest crappie fishing club in the Southeast with 201 members, including 51 women.
In addition to our Children’s fishing event, we host the Fishing with Military Heroes Tournament for Veterans Wounded in the Line of Duty; the GAOWL (Outdoors Without Limits) Fishing Tournament for Handicapped & Wheelchair bound Participants, and The Jerricho House – Drug & Alcohol Rehab Facility Fishing Tournament.
